My main areas of research in American Studies are science fiction, feminist religious discourse, and race/ethnicity in nineteenth century literature. Right now I am working on two major research projects, one on the relation of image and text in Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass and one on nanotechnology and space in turn-of-the-century science fiction.
